What is Seavus Project Search?
Seavus Project Search is tool for searching a text inside project files created in Microsoft Project (MPP files), stored locally on your PC.

If you spend lot of time searching through your mpp files and never knowing if the project file is the one you’re searching for, Seavus Project Search is the perfect tool for you. It operates like most of the known desktop search applications. You can use Seavus Project Search as a standalone application, or use the functions in Windows Desktop Search or Google Desktop Search. Still, you need Seavus Project Viewer in order to use the application.
How Seavus Project Search works?
Seavus Project Search acts as a meta-search engine for full-text search engines. A user specifies some keywords he/she would like to search and the search engine answers the query immediately by looking up the indexing result and responds to the user with all the documents that contains the keywords. The search engine itself doesn't understand format of a MPP document. Therefore, it looks in windows registry for an appropriate MPP index filter and finds Seavus Project Search. Seavus Project Search understands MPP format. It filters out embedded formatting and extracts text from the document and return text back to the application.

How Google Apps Integration works?
The project manager creates a project plan using Microsoft Project and assigns team members to work on that plan and using Seavus Add-in for Microsoft Project, he uploads the project plan to Google Docs or Google Sites. All tasks from the project plan are added as events in the newly created project calendar. This way, the team member can receive notifications about upcoming tasks. When the team member wants to update progress on a project on which he has been assigned to, all he has to do is:
  • Open Seavus Project Viewer
  • Log in to Google using your Google Credentials
  • Update task progress in %Work Complete or Actual Work Time
  • Save and submit updates.

When the project manager opens again the project plan, she/he must check if there are any updates available. If there are updates for the project, they can be handled by simple Accepting or Rejecting assignment by assignment. When done with updates handling, the project plan is automatically updated, and the project manager must publish the new project version on the same place.;
